THE GALWAY SESSIONS – Another gloriously musical week

The week commenced at 11 June 2012. Today 13th of June, at 2.00 pm  a parade from Shop St to the Latin Quarter, featuring the Royal Scottish Academy Pipers and Highland Dancers took place.

F.U.M. are Anna Falkenau, Lena Ullman and Ivan Murray, delivering bold, striking renditions of Irish Traditional and American old-time music. Thyey’re in the King’s Head at 3.00pm and t…here’s a general traditional session in the same venue at 9.00pm.

The music trail continues with a Scottish traditional sesion in The Front Door at 3.00pm, then The Great Danes at 5.30pm in Taaffe’s, followed by The Fahy Family at 9.30pm. Paul Bradley and Declan Corey are in Ti Choili at 6.00pm, and Declan is joined there at 9.00pm by Ger Clancy.

Liam Lewis, Sean Maloney and Greg Cotter are in the Crane at 9.00pm , focusing on the great music of East Galway and Atantic Steps are in Monroe’s at the same time, where Fergal McDonagh and Pat Shields in flying form downstairs.

Cork-based Lazik are in Kelly’s Bar at 9.00pm. They promise a night of shimmering bellydance rhythms, rocking Scandanavian melodies and groovey Eastern European music. Downstairs in Kelly’s tthere’s a Scottish traditional session at 10.00pm.

Out of town, in Clarinbridge there’s a Scottish traditional sessin in Sherry’s Bar too!
