A busy summer ahead for the Collegiate Church of St Nicholas

The Collegiate Church of St Nicholas has a busy summer ahead, hosting visiting choirs in evening concerts. All concerts are free, however there is – very reasonably – a discretionary retiring collection in aid of the St Nicholas Maintenance fund.
The first concert starts 14 June 14, 2012, at 9.30pm, and features the North Central College Women’s Choir, Illinois. They are described as 40 talented college singers performing a programme of choral clasics, folk songs, gospel music, show tunes and spirituals.
Then on Saturday June 30th it’s the turn of Minnesota Centre Chorale, a 25 voice regional community chorus, celebrating its 40th anniversary with a programme of choral classics, folk songs, gospel music and spirituals. (8.00pm)
From Copenhagen, Denmark comes the Kammerkoret Audite. Founded in 1983 this chamber choir performs international choral music and works by Irish composers. They are St Nicholas at 8.00pm on Thursday 5th July.
The following Thursday, July 12th the 20 young singers of Pro Music Choristers from North Carolina, USA will present works by European and American composers, gospel songs and spirituals for young voices. (8.00pm)
Finally, from South Carolina the Sandlapper Singers will be entertaining Galway with their engaging style, performing a wide variety of music “made in the USA”. That’s at 8.00pm on Tuesday July 17th.
