A casting workshop with Ros Hubbard and Mary Maguire

The 24th Galway Film Fleadh, in association with Hubbard Casting, are proud to present a casting workshop with Ros Hubbard and Mary Maguire.

Casting Director Ros Hubbard, who is from Dublin, set up Hubbard Casting with her husband John in 1976 and now works from their HQ in London and Dublin. Their children, Dan and Amy, have since followed them into the business and are very successful casters in their own right. Amy’s recent work includes The Hobbit, Albert Nobbs and The Arbor. Dan has recently completed All is By My Side, the Jimi Hendrix story shooting in Dublin and is currently casting Captain Philips for Paul Greengrass.

In a career that has spanned over 30 years, the Hubbard outfit’s notable discoveries have included Orlando Bloom, whom they cast in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Kate Winslet and they currently have Aidan Turner and James Nesbitt starring in The Hobbit. In addition to presiding with Alan Parker over the epic Irish casting process for The Commitments, the many notable recent Hubbard Casting credits include Romeo and Juliet, The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman, Whole Lotta Sole, and Summer in February and John and Ros are currently casting Molly Moon, The Hound of Erin, Gold and The Piper. Ros has won many awards for her contribution to film, the last being when she and John were honoured for their work on The Commitments at the Oscar Wilde Awards in LA in 2011. Recently, in an effort to assist films getting made they have started to produce but love and will continue to cast.
Mary Maguire was born in Dublin and has worked with Hubbard Casting for over 20 years. Her work includes such titles as
The Commitments, Far and Away, Angela’s Ashes, Omagh, Bloody Sunday and Rebel Heart. She is currently working on The Hound of Erin. Mary enjoys contemporary dance, gardening and she has travelled the world extensively.

Place are limited – all applicants MUST bring a CV and headshot and have a monologue prepared and ready to perform (no longer than 1 minute).
