ALâ seeks actors and background people for Granuaile show

Fearless leader by land and by sea, political pragmatist and tactician, rebel, mariner and matriarch, the ’most notorious woman in all the coasts of Ireland’ GRACE O’MALLEY, better known as Granuaile, challenges and manipulates the turbulent politics of the 16th century. Breaching boundaries of gender imbalance and bias, she re-wrote the rules to become one of the world’s first documented feminist trail-blazers.

To honour this great lady ALâ are devising a show based on her life”, said Gerry Conneely, Director. “I am so excited with this project it will be great fun with so many different elements. To do it we need a large cast including actors, no experience required, musicians, circus skilled people, dancers and other performers. We also need administrative and technical background people, makers etc”.

We would be delighted to hear from choirs, bands and various social groups who would like to be involved in the play” stated Deirdre Dooley, Chairperson ALâ.

Louie Maguire, ALâ Treasurer, “We have no specific funding to do this show and if someone would like to sponsor it we will be delighted to discuss with them how it can be of mutual advantage.”

A meeting will take place in the Ballybane Community Resource Centre on Wednesday 29th August at 7.30pm or you can ring 0868461270 or email for further info.
