Arts focused Disability Equality Training for artists

Arts & Disability Ireland in association with Galway County and City Arts Offices will deliver a one day Disability Equality Training (DET) session as part of Arts and Disability Networking (ADN). DET’s objective is to provide artists with the resources, skills and knowledge to engage people with disabilities in their practice. The artists programme will be delivered through a one-day facilitated workshop and covers topics such as: ways of thinking about disability, thinking about words, thinking about access, communication, participation, programming. DET is participative and dynamic, and places disability firmly in the context of equality and rights.  The session will be led by facilitators Pádraig Naughton, Executive Director, Arts & Disability Ireland and Damien O’Connor, Disability Arts coordinator, Mayo County Council’s Arts Office. The training is aimed at artists whose practice includes participatory arts, education and outreach.The training will take place in City Hall, Galway, on Thursday 18th October,. at 10.00am – 4.30pm.
